Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has faced a difficult situation.
The Election Commission has sought a reply to the allegations under the Contempt
of Court Ordinance. Fawad Chaudhry will be asked to respond under the relevant
provisions of the Election Act. According to details, Federal Information
Minister Fawad Chaudhry has been summoned regarding the allegations against the
Election Commission of Pakistan and the Chief Election Commissioner for which
the Election Commission has issued notice to Fawad Chaudhry. Fawad Chaudhry
will appear before the Election Commission on October 27 in person or through a
lawyer. He will be asked to respond to the allegations under the Contempt of
Court Ordinance.
It may be recalled that on September 14, the Election Commission of Pakistan decided to seek proof of the allegations from Federal Ministers Fawad Chaudhry and Azam Swati. In this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Sultan Raja. It was learned that Federal Ministers Fawad Chaudhry and Azam Swati had accused the Chief Election Commissioner of corruption and bias of the PML-N, to which the Chief Election Commissioner had expressed his indignation.
A statement issued by the Election
Commission said that the Election Commission has rejected the allegations of
Federal Ministers Fawad Chaudhry and Azam Swati. The Election Commission
decided to send notices to Fawad Chaudhry and Azam Swati. Evidence will be
sought. If both the ministers cannot prove the allegations, action will be
taken. The Election Commission has also sought the record of the press
conference of both the ministers.
